Extruded polystyrene foam reacts to temperature and ultraviolet (be careful when laying it and do not leave the sheets in the open sun for a long time. They may be deformed when heated. It is also afraid of any solvents and oils.

Extruded polystyrene foam
In construction, such a widespread thermal insulation material as extruded polystyrene foam (XPS, EPS, extruded polystyrene foam) is widely used. One of its significant advantages is high strength and thermal insulation. The use of extruded polystyrene foam is possible both in the construction of new buildings and in the process of reconstruction. As for the negative features, they lie in the fact that this material does not like the sun’s rays very much.
More recently, other polyurethane foams, the so-called polyisocyanurate foams, have been used in construction, which have proven themselves poorly. Why? Because they are very expensive, they are easily compressed under the influence of temperature. When they are used in winter conditions, it will be cold in the premises, as they do not have time to “get used” to the temperature and intensively give off heat. Extruded polystyrene foam is more resistant to these conditions, respectively, in terms of thermal insulation properties, it is several times better. Roof insulation with Ekobord extruded polystyrene foam will cost less than foam glass roof insulation.
Plates made of extruded polystyrene foam, which are so widely used in construction, are the main element of thermal insulation of houses and walls of various structures. Such plates have a thickness of 20mm to 100mm. Installation of extruded polystyrene foam can be carried out according to the principle of conventional multilayer thermal insulation.
